1. Check your credit report

First, you can have a look at your credit report. If you have been evicted by the court order, the court judgment should appear in the public records section.

To acquire your credit report, you don’t have to go to each of the three credit reporting agencies. On annualcreditreport.com, you can order your free annual reports in one place. Or you can call 1-877-322-8228 and tell them about your request. Or you can complete the Annual Credit Report Request Form and mail it to:

2. Check the court records

An individual’s eviction records are public data, which are housed within state or county court systems. If you have got evicted, it would stay on your record for up to seven years. All you have to do is find your right court site, search for your name, and read all the information that is provided.

3. Obtain a tenant screening report

The easiest and hassle-free way to check if you have an eviction on your record is to request a full tenant screening report on yourself. A tenant screening service is not just tailored to landlords. You as a tenant can take advantage of this service to verify your information and know what is shown up on your report ahead of time.

Here you can try TransUnion SmartMove, a comprehensive tenant screening package. What you can expect from a search on SmartMove are credit, criminal, eviction, and income insights reports. Currently, it offers three different pricing plans. But if you need to obtain eviction-related reports, you’ll need to choose SMartCheck Plus and SmartCheck Premium.

(Note: Prices are subject to change depending on the time you use the service. )

After you’ve been clear about their pricing. You can create an account. And signing up for SmartMove is a breeze and can be done in a matter of minutes. Then you can input your information as required, and it should present you with a detailed report on which you can check if there’s an eviction on your record.
