How to Find Out Where Someone Lives (2024)

There are different scenarios when we need to find out where someone lives. While it might seem confusing, especially when you only have limited information about the person, it is possible to get the address using online resources.

This guide will walk you through how to search for someone’s address. Before we delve into the steps, it is important to note that using this information for malicious purposes such as stalking or harassment can lead to legal consequences. It is essential to respect privacy laws and consider the implications of your actions.

1. BeenVerified

BeenVerified is a decent people search tool that has been around since 2007. It aggregates millions of public records and other online sources, providing easy access to people-related information. To search for someone’s address with this tool, you need to purchase a membership. It has two payment tiers, and all tiers are limited to 100 reports per month.

  • 1-month membership — $29.99/month
  • 3-month membership — $19.49/month

Once you’ve purchased a membership, go to the BeenVerified website. Choose the type of search you want – BeenVerified is also one of the most versatile people search engines, allowing you to search for someone by name, phone number, address, username, and email address. It will scour public records and thousands of websites to find information associated with the information you entered and compile available information into one report.

For example, below is a report I got from this service. It includes the person’s possible address, phone number, email address, relatives, associates, neighbors, job & education history, and social media accounts. (Note that this is just a sample BeenVerifed report, The actual report may contain less or more information.)

2. TruthFinder

TruthFinder is another powerful background check tool that scours millions of public records from federal, state and local agencies and across the web.

To see if you can locate someone’s address with this tool, you need to purchase a TruthFinder membership. Next, log into your account and search for the name, phone number, or email address of the person you’re trying to investigate. TruthFinder will search through millions of records and then present you with an easy-to-read report on that person.

For example, below is a sample TruthFinder report I received. I was able to view details such as the individual’s current and past addresses, criminal and traffic records, social media profiles, and professional licenses. Compared to other tools I’ve tested, TruthFinder definitely pulls out more information than any of them. However, it’s also the most expensive one. The people search membership costs $28.05 a month.

The above image is from a sample TruthFinder report. Actual TruthFinder reports may contain more or less information.

3. Social Catfish

Social Catfish is an online investigation service that has one of the most comprehensive collections of dating site profiles and background information. It offers several payment options:

  • 5-day unlimited social search — $5.73
  • 5-day unlimited image search — $5.99
  • 1-month unlimited social search— $27.48
  • 1-month unlimited image search— $$26.99
  • In-depth search -$297 for one report

The membership will allow you to find someone’s contact information and background details using the information you know about the individual. For instance, I tried Social Catfish’s reverse name search feature, and here is what I got from the service. The report shows the person’s address history and social media profile.

4. Spokeo

Spokeo is a well-known people search tool. Searching Spokeo can bring up information Google often misses (e.g., contact information, personal details, criminal records, and more), and the tool automatically filters out irrelevant or outdated data so you won’t be overwhelmed by thousands of results that you might get from regular searches.

Here’s how to confidentially look up someone’s address with Spokeo:

Step 1: Go to Spokeo.

Step 2: Choose the type of search you want, then enter the information you have and click SEARCH NOW. You can look up someone by name, email, phone number, or address.

Step 3: Spokeo will compile information associated with the information you entered in one report, including the person’s current and past addresses.

5. PeopleFinders

Another leading data service provider is PeopleFinders. It has one of the most comprehensive collections of public records. It allows you to search for someone’s address by name, email, and phone number.

What we like most about it is that, unlike most reverse lookup tools, PeopleFinders gives you a few details of the search result for free, such as the person’s age, family members, and the first few digits of his/her phone number.

Step 1: Go to PeopleFinders

Step 2: Select the type of search you want. Then type the information in the search field and click Search.

While it’s legal to use people search tools to track down someone, it’s illegal to stalk, harass, or threaten them in any way. Please use these tools ethically and stay on the right side of the law.

6. Ask around

If you wish to find out the address of an old friend who has drifted apart or someone who you met online, you might want to take more old-fashioned techniques – checking with the person directly and see if they are comfortable with you knowing their address. (Besides, it’s always good to inform someone before you drop by. )

If you don’t have the person’s contact details at all, try to find your mutual friends or the person’s associates and see if they know the individual’s whereabouts.

7. Google

Depending on how much information you have about the person whose address you’re looking for, you can sometimes get the address from Google searches.

Start by jotting down any details you know about the person, such as the person’s full name, age, college, workplace, or last known location. Then, type the information you have into the search bar and hit search to see what comes up.

If you have enough information about the person, your search should be fairly simple to accomplish. But if you failed to track down the person in Google, try Bing or any other search engine to get more results.

While you might not find a webpage that lists the address you’re looking for, you might be able to find the person’s contact information from search engines, such as their social media page where you can send a message to the person.

8. Social media

Social media can also be a good way to find important pieces of the puzzle. Sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram generally list the city where people live and the location where people make a post. Plus, people upload pictures to social media so you might be able to recognize the person if they are present in your search results.

Just type the person’s name, phone number, email address, or potential username into the search field and see if this pulls up their profile page. If it does, try sending a message explaining why you searched for them and beginning a simple and pleasant conversation before you set up a meeting.

If you know the person’s workplace, you might want to check his/her company page on LinkedIn to see if you can find the person’s profile and reach out.

Conclusion

Finding out where someone lives online isn’t easy. Whether you decide to use a dedicated people search tool to get the address or you choose Google and social media platforms to conduct your search, it takes time and patience to get the address
