Q&As

What is MSG Network?

The Madison Square Garden Network (MSG Network) is an American regional cable & satellite television network and radio service. As a regional sports network(RSN), MSG Network provides coverage of local professional and amateur sports for the local audience, which is home to games for New York Knicks (NBA), New York Islanders (NHL), New York Rangers (NHL), New Jersey Devils (NHL), New York Red Bulls (MLS) or Buffalo Sabres (NHL).

Where is MSG Network available?

MSG Network serves subscribers in parts of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. You must live inside this coverage area to get MSG. In other words, if you live in Florida, you cannot get MSG even it’s available from your provider.

To check if MSG Network is available in our area, you can enter your zip code into the DIRECTV STREAM channel lineup page (under the REGIONAL SPORTS & LOCAL tab). Below is roughly the coverage:

New York: entire state
Connecticut: western half of the state including Hartford
Pennsylvania: only the very northeastern tip of the state
New Jersey: Northern part of the state including Newark but not even as south as Princeton

Can I get MSG with the MSG GO app?

If you don’t want to watch MSG with cable and satellite TV, DIRECTV STREAM and fuboTV are your only alternatives. These two streaming services are quite good, as they offer more for less money.

MSG GO app is available in the app store of most devices, which allows you to stream the MSG Network channels. However, it won’t give you access if you don’t have a subscription with a supported MSG provider (MSG GO currently only supports DIRECTV).

Wrapping it up

Both DIRECTV STREAM and fuboTV offers MSG Network in their channel lineups. If you’d like to watch MSG network without cable, you just need to pick the streaming service that suits you best.
