Instagram has a built-in search function within the app, which allows you to unlock someone’s profile with their phone number or username.

1. Save the person’s phone number to your phone’s contact list.
2. Fire up Instagram, then in the lower right corner of your screen, tap the Profile icon.
   
3. On the top right, tap the three-horizontal-line icon > Discover people.
   
4. Tap Connect next to Connect Contacts.
   
5. In the pop-up window, tap Allow Access.
   
6. If you are greeted with the Couldn’t load users warning, tap Settings, and toggle on Contacts.
