How to Find Someone on Venmo (2024)

As a digital payment platform with social network capabilities, Venmo makes splitting bills and transferring money easier. After adding someone to your friend list, you’re able to send them money instantly. If you don’t know if your friend is on this platform, we will show you the best ways to find someone on Venmo step by step.

Method 1 – Use a people search engine

A dedicated people search engine allows you to find someone’s online profiles on over 120 networks simply by their name, phone number, or email.

Option 1 – Search Venmo by phone number with Intelius

Intelius is a professional reverse phone lookup tool and serves as a powerful social media finder. You can search any phone number to pull up relevant online profiles. Beyond that, you’ll learn more about the number owner including their address, employment, and so on.

1. Go to Intelius.

2. Type in someone’s phone number and click Search.

3. Wait until the report completes. After puchasing a membership plan, you can see the available social media accounts linked to the phone number along with a wealth of personal information.

Image above is from a sample Intelius report. Actual Intelius reports may contain more or less information.

Option 2 – Look up online profiles with BeenVerified

BeenVerified is a trustworthy people search service. It gathers a vast amount of public information and data from social media and communities to generate thorough background reports. That may reveal an individual’s contact details, location, public records, social media accounts like Venmo, Facebook, and more.

  1. Simply head to theBeenVerified search page.
  2. Enter the name, phone number, or email of the person you’re looking for and click Search.
  3. Wait until the search completes, and you may be surprised how much information there’s in the report. Head to the Social Media tab to check for associated Venmo profiles.

Method 2 – Search directly on Venmo

If you don’t feel like using a third-party service, take advantage of Venmo’s in-built search abilities.

Option 1 – By name or username

If you have the person’s Venmo username, simply look it up on the search bar to find the profile. If not, you may try your luck by searching for the user’s real name.

  1. Open the Venmo app and tap the Menu icon at the top left corner.
  2. Tap Search People. Then enter the person’s name or username.

There may be dozens of results associated with a common name, so make sure you scroll through each profile carefully. If no results are found, it’s possible the person doesn’t have a Venmo account or uses a display name.

Option 2 – By syncing the contact list

Like most social networks, Venmo tries to connect its users automatically. When you sync your phone or Facebook contact list, it can detect which of your contacts is also on Venmo and add the person directly to your friend list.

Below is how to enable this feature:

  1. Tap the Menu icon on the homepage and go to Settings.
  2. Tap Friends & Social.
  3. Toggle on Facebook Connect, which will allow Venmo to access your email and find Facebook Friends. And also toggle on the button for Phone Contacts and Facebook Contacts.

Note only users who have enabled syncing will be found and added.
