Facebook Down? Check Facebook Server Status Right Away

Facebook not working properly? You must be wondering if anything goes wrong on your end, or, if Facebook is down now. So, is Facebook down? Read on and you’ll find it out immediately…
Is Facebook down?
Method 1: Check error messages
To find out whether the Facebook not working issue is for everybody else or it’s just on your end, first you can take a look at Facebook to see if there is any error messages like the following:
- Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.
- Sorry, an error has occurred. We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.
- Account Temporarily Unavailable. Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly.
- Facebook Will Be Back Soon. Facebook is down for required maintenance right now, but you should be able to get back on within a few minutes.
- Your account is temporarily unavailable due to site maintenance. It should be available again within a few hours.
If yes, you see a similar or same message, then good news – you’re not facing the problem on your own. But the bad news is that you can only wait until the service is fully restored.
If no, there is no error message on the app and Facebook is still not working, you should move on to Fix 2, to narrow down the issue.
Method 2: Check the service’s performance
If you’re not receiving any error messages and Facebook is not working, it does not guarantee that the service is up and running. It is possible that the servers are down because of something unexpected. So you should check Facebook Platform Status to see if there is an outage on the service. Or, if you can’t open it properly (which is normally if Facebook is down), you can search Twitter with #facebookdown to see if there’s a surge in recent tweets. Typically, when one social media platform goes down, users tend to switch to another for status information.
Other than that, you can also go to some third-party websites provide helpful information in identifying if a service, like Facebook, is down. Among them, the websites we recommend are DownDetector. DownDetector is a service performance checker website that offers you a realtime overview of the status of a service as well as a lively comment section for users to share and know that they’re not alone during downtime.
Maybe it’s just you
If you have ruled out the two methods above as possible causes of your Facebook not working problem, then it’s probably just you. You can then try checking your Internet connection, restarting your device, accessing Facebook on different devices, updating the app etc. to fix the issue.
That’s it – two easy methods to help you find out if Facebook is down. Hope this helps and if you have any ideas, questions or suggestions, please leave us a comment below. Thanks for reading!
